Kids in the Game is dedicated to developing New York City’s youth by providing opportunities through sports and fitness to the schools and communities we serve. Our goal is to develop the next generation of leaders by developing healthy habits, an active lifestyle, and promoting personal growth through play and competition.

During the school year, KING is rooted in dozens of schools around New York City, offering recess, after-school, physical education, early drop off fitness, and sports instruction. In addition, KING operates summer camps, sports clinics (basketball, soccer, volleyball), and special events. 


Director of Soccer Operations

Position Description/Core Responsibilities:

KING is currently looking for a Director of Soccer Operations to join its growing team and senior staff. The Soccer Director will report directly to the President of the company and manage a team of several coaches and existing programs in NYC area schools. In addition, the candidate will help build the soccer program– which includes clinics, leagues, travel teams, summer camps, coaches’ clinics, and more. In order to do this, the candidate will need to develop relationships across the city in the soccer community, find gym/field space, market the programs, and help administer the various programs. The candidate will also be involved in more general programs that Kids in the Game offers, including summer day camps. The ideal candidate will be able to act as a Camp Director for general day camps or soccer specific camps if needed.


Key Responsibilities:

Assist in the strategy, marketing, and operations of all Kids in the Game programs and camps –act as a member of the senior management team
Lead the build out of Kids in the Game’s soccer brand
Oversee all aspects of soccer programs, including organizing camps, clinics, private training, leagues, and youth teams
Assist in content generation for Kids in the Game and KING Soccer programs.
Build out sports performance training program for all athletes
Seek and interview prospective soccer coaches and trainers
Attend area tournaments, games, and clinics to form partnerships
Organize and lead staff trainings with your coaches.

Bachelor’s Degree from a 4-year university; advanced degree a plus
Former college athlete and/or current coach preferred, but not required
3+ years experience working with children; experience managing a team a plus
Bilingual is preferred, but not required
Demonstrated experience leading groups of children with the ability to engage and inspire youth
Experience managing a team
Ability to communicate effectively to senior staff and administrations at schools
Experience interacting with diverse communities
Knowledge of computer and internet based programs for use in communication
Strong interpersonal communication skills, both oral and written
Ability to network with area coaches and families to form partnerships and recruit players for competitive teams
Ability to work in an organized yet flexible manner – team spends time around the city on a daily basis
